About this project, we did the brainstorming and thoughtout camera obscura, mirror, reflection of oneself and emotions, and considered how the words combine with abstraction and black square. And we did researchs which is about idea of ‘mirror stage’, theory of camera of obscura and deep concepts and meanings of camera obscura. After the resaerch, we are going to using photograph- shooting to present our concepts. Photoshoot using reflection as the representation of abstraction and the distortion of reality, using the reflections on the mirrors, or lack thereof, as the main subject. Inspired by abstract performances, We have created a physical representation of the distortion of the mind.
While in the photography studio we experimented with different takes and ways could transl.ate our the idea of distortion.The focus is on the subject conveying the idea
of distorted perspectives from within ourselves.
In the shooting process of the studio, we used different lighting angles and different patterns of light. We used spotlights to highlight important details. We also tried some reflective materials, mirrors and reflective paper to express the concept of reflecting ourselves. In the editing,
I change the photos to black and white, raised the contrast slightly, and changed the details of the image. We also took some photos about our hand-made camera obscura model.
There is a girl, she get into a dark space, different emotions are filling her mind at the moment.
Now, some mirrors appear and around her.
The mirrors present her different characteristics.
She is keeping walk, there is a camera obscura in front of her.
She watches her past life experence in the camera obscura.
There is a reflective paper in front of her, she feels her hands are distorted on the reflective paper.
Suddenly, her friend in real life faces to her. They smile to each other.
Two thousands of years later, she breaks the paper and look ahead.
