Somewhere Else  To  Be  (Photography and Collage)

June  2021
                     Walking slowly on the treadmill-shopping

In 2020, the new crown epidemic broke out all over the world, and many people were forced to lock down at home. In China, the epidemic began during the Spring Festival in 2020. The Chinese government has adopted a policy of compulsory lockdown, people have to live at home. Many people spend several months at home without going out. I returned to China in 2020 and was required to stay at home as soon as I got off the plane, so I started my 14-day quarantine life at the end of March last year. In the past few days, I recalled my previous happy and free life. I am very yearning for the life of often participating in outdoor activities, such as traveling, shopping, and being close to nature.

How did I spend my isolation time? I wake up in the morning to eat breakfast, go online to class, eat lunch, do yoga in the afternoon, clean up, dry clothes, etc., and then repeat the same arrangement every day. So I came up with a question in my mind: What is the connection between my outdoor life and my home life? I was inspired by Richard Hamilton's "What makes today's family so different?" I think I can make a collage to connect my outdoor life and home life.

My collage is about the connection between my indoor activities and outdoor activities throughout the day. So when I was shooting, I chose a very casual suspender top and shorts. I wanted to restore my home state, a very casual and lazy feeling. In my project, I collacted 6 different scenes that may happen on the day. Specifically, lying on the bed and playing with your phone, running on a treadmill, drinking soup, going upstairs to dry my clothes, swating mosquitoes, cleaning the table, practicing yoga.
